About the Board
The Lake County Conservation District Board works to manage and protect natural resources in our county. Board members guide local conservation programs, projects, and policies, helping shape priorities that support sustainable land, water, and community resources.
Eligibility to Serve
To serve on the Lake County Conservation District Board:
You must be a registered voter residing in the Lake County Conservation District.
Board members are elected by voters in the district and serve four-year terms.
Filing for Election
Interested in running for the board? Here’s what you need to know:
Petition Requirements: Submit a petition signed by at least 15 voters in the district.
Where to File: Lake County Auditor’s Office
Deadline: July 1 at 5:00 p.m. Petitions mailed by registered mail and received by this time are considered filed.
Notice: The board will publish notice of available offices at least once per week for two consecutive weeks in the official county newspaper(s).
Election Process
Elections are nonpartisan and held during the general election.
Candidates are elected by plurality.
The election process, including canvassing, recounts, and contests, follows general election laws unless otherwise specified by state law.
Board members serve four-year terms starting the first Monday in January after the election.
